Private Advisory & Collectorship
McGavin Gallery provides private advisory services to collectors seeking thoughtful guidance in the development, refinement, or stewardship of their collections. Engagements are highly personal and often take place in private homes or offices, allowing for a deeper understanding of a collector’s sensibilities, existing holdings, and long-term objectives.
Advisory work is grounded in connoisseurship, research, and discretion, with an emphasis on placing works that align with both aesthetic judgment and lasting significance.
Acquisition & Placement
The gallery assists collectors in the acquisition and placement of timeless works of art, sourced through ongoing research, established relationships, and international travel. Works are selected for their craftsmanship, integrity, and timelessness, whether historical or contemporary.
Each acquisition is approached with care and consideration, ensuring that works enter collections where they will be responsibly held and meaningfully appreciated.
Provenance & Documentation
Every work handled by McGavin Gallery is accompanied by a detailed ledger, ensuring clarity of authorship, condition, and custodial history. The ledger includes formal certificates and historical documentation, including authorship, materials, dimensions, condition valuations, and relevant historical provenance context for long-term reference.
Secure Storage & Viewing
The gallery operates within a secure, vault-like environment designed to support both preservation and quiet engagement. Works are stored and presented under controlled conditions, allowing collectors to view and consider acquisitions without urgency or distraction.
Private viewings are arranged by appointment.
Collection Stewardship
McGavin Gallery supports collectors beyond acquisition, offering guidance on the long-term stewardship of works, including placement within collections, documentation continuity, and thoughtful management over time.
The gallery’s role is to ensure that each work’s material condition, historical record, and custodial integrity are preserved for future generations.
Artist Representation & Research
The gallery works selectively with artists whose practices reflect discipline, craftsmanship, and enduring relevance. Research, documentation, and long-term context are central to how artists are presented and supported.
This approach allows collectors to engage with contemporary work through the same lens of seriousness and longevity traditionally afforded to historical material.
Private Appointments
All engagements with McGavin Gallery are conducted by appointment. Meetings may take place within the gallery, in private residences, or by arrangement.
